A small nature reserve consisting of two fields on either side of Bumpstead Brook, a short tributary of the River Stour. The fields have small plantations, one of cricket-bat willows and the other field maples, and are surrounded by very old hedgerows with a variety of tree species. They are managed for wild flowers, one by hay cut and the other by sheep grazing.

Visiting

On the B1054 a short distance west (towards Hempstead) of Steeple Bumpstead. (Do not park on the track or concrete bridge as these are in regular use by farm machinery.)

Saffron Walden–Haverhill (route 60) bus stops nearby (Bulls Bridge Farm).

Accessible at all times.

Summer for wild flowers.

Please do not enter the fenced area when sheep are grazing.
